OktaviaChair and Sustainability
Del
When OktaviaChair was developed, the focus was on ergonomics, user experience — and on materials, production, and longevity.
For us, sustainability means creating a product that performs responsibly on every parameter.
Responsible Materials
OktaviaChair is made from European FSC-certified wood.
This means the wood comes from responsibly managed forests where careful consideration is given to:
- The forest’s natural ecosystem
- Biodiversity
- Working conditions
- Reforestation
By choosing European wood, we also reduce transportation distances compared to overseas materials.
This results in a lower carbon footprint and greater transparency throughout the value chain.
Local Production in Denmark
The chair is produced in Denmark, ensuring:
- Shorter transportation distances
- High quality control
- Fair and responsible working conditions
- Continuous product improvement
Local production also allows us to stay closely connected to the manufacturing process and ensure that both materials and craftsmanship meet our standards.
Durable and Environmentally Considered Surface Treatment
The frame is made of powder-coated steel — a highly durable and more environmentally responsible surface treatment compared to traditional wet paint finishes.
Powder coating:
- Contains no solvents
- Produces minimal waste
- Creates a highly durable surface
- Extends the product’s lifespan
A robust surface means fewer replacements and reduced resource consumption over time.
Longevity Is the Most Overlooked Form of Sustainability
The greatest environmental impact often lies in production and replacement.
OktaviaChair is designed to:
- Last for many years
- Be used by multiple children
- Withstand daily use in both homes and music schools
When a product does not need to be replaced every two or three years, its overall carbon footprint is significantly reduced.
Sustainability Is Also About People
Proper seating posture prevents strain and supports healthy physical development.
Investing in a chair that supports the child correctly from the beginning is also an investment in long-term well-being.
For us, quality, health, and sustainability are inseparable.
