Principal at Hørsholm Music School
Oluf Hildebrandt-Nielsen
“Hørsholm Music School is very pleased to have purchased 50 orchestra chairs from OktaviaChair. The chairs look great on stage, and they only take up very little space. They are also easy to stack and move around, and the pupils can adjust the chairs to the correct height by themselves. When using the chairs from OktaviaChair, the pupils gain a correct sitting posture, and it is very noticeable how the pupils prefer to use OktaviaChairs rather than the other chairs that are made available to them.
The chairs have a discreet, rough varnish, which prevents the children from sliding off the seats. With OktaviaChair’s elegant design, the pupils experience large physical freedom with their instruments when sitting on the chairs.”

“After having used the chair for a couple of months, I have to say; it adresses all my needs and demands for a musical chair for very small AND very tall cello students. Sitting comfort is good, and adjusting the height of the chair is easy and fast – brilliant system!
It is definitely a chair I would recommend that music schools acquire in larger quantities.
Cellists sit most of the time the play, so the chair is an obvious choice for them, but it is also a good middle ground (for resting) for small violinists/wind players who spend most of the playing time standing up.”

“My pupils have used OktaviaChairs during ensemble lessons. The chairs are easy to adjust to the correct height, and the pupils are automatically given a good sitting posture, which is a great advantage when they have to sit with their instruments. At the end of lessons, it doesn’t take long for us to tidy up, as the children can easily stack and clear away the chairs.”

Violinist and Teacher of the Alexander Technique
Mary McGovern
“As both a teacher of the Alexander Technique and the violin, with over 30 years of teaching experience, I highly recommend OktaviaChair for children. The orchestra chair meets a great need among music schools and music teachers not only in Denmark but internationally. Finding suitable orchestra chairs for children has proved to be very difficult until now.
The chair’s seat can be adjusted according to the child’s height. It is important that the chair can be adjusted, because a correct sitting height has a decisive influence on the child’s sitting habits. At a correct height, the child can secure proper contact between feet and floor, which ensures free movement of legs, a healthy back, good breathing, and thereby also improved concentration.
The seat of the chair slopes forwards and downwards, which positions the pelvis and back at an upright position on the chair. The downward slope of the thighs helps secure free movement of the arms. (Here I am thinking of violinists and violists in particular, because the right leg is often in the way of the bow, which leads to poor technique and physical discomfort).
As a music teacher it is my obligation to help prevent my students from attaining back injuries. OktaviaChair does just that, as it ensures an ergonomic correct sitting posture.”
